The New Zealand all-rounder and latest recruit of Texas Super Kings has pulled out of the second season of Major League Cricket. Mitchell is said to have sustained an injury ahead of the tournament, which caused him to be forced out.
“Daryl Mitchell has been ruled out of the 2024 Major League Cricket (MLC) tournament due to injury. Texas Super Kings have signed Afghanistan left-arm spinner Noor Ahmed as the replacement,” their official statement read.

Mitchell was bought in Texas in March, ahead of his outing with Chennai Super Kings, TSK’s sister franchise. Following this, he was also part of New Zealand’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.
However, his season has been plagued with injuries so far. Earlier in the year, he had sustained a foot injury that forced him out of the South African test and the T20I series against Australia at home.
After his recovery, he struggled to firm form and rhythm for Chennai Super Kings. He could only muster 36 runs in his first three innings for his national team in the World Cup.
In the meantime, Noor Ahmad’s replacement can be a gamechanger for the Texas side. He has been in phenomenal form for his national team and various franchises that he represents all around the globe. The left-arm wrist spinner is currently with the Afghanistan team, which is playing in the Super 8 stage of the World Cup.
Texas might not miss the services of Daryl Mitchell enough, as they have signed another power-hitting all-rounder in the form of Marcus Stoinis. They roped in the number-1 ranked all around in T20Is to add some firepower to their side.
Last season, they reached the playoffs of the tournament and lost to MI New York, who eventually became the inaugural champions. This year, they will be looking to change their fate and win their first tournament.
