IPL is never short of action. During the games, something always happens that keeps the crowd entertained and gives them something to talk about. However, this time, something happened even before the game that got social media buzzing. Ahead of the dazzling encounter between MI vs RCB at the Wankhede stadium, the fans picked up something amiss about the toss.
During the toss, Javagal Shreenath, the former Indian bowler and match referee, was accused of turning the coin to favour Mumbai Indians.
Several users on Twitter and other social media platforms came together to share the video, in which Shreenath seems to flip the coin while picking it up from the ground. Following this, a huge outcry was seen on social media about matches being fixed.
Later, another video slammed the conspiracy theorist. This time, what was happening on the ground was clearer, and a slowed version of the video showed that the match referee had not turned the coin to favour the Mumbai Indians.
Coming to the game between MI and RCB, it turned out to be no contest. Rather, both teams were a mismatch on the given day, as Mumbai walked all over the Bengaluru team.
First, with the ball in hand, Jasprit Bumrah clinched a fifer to break RCBβs batting prowess. Somehow, the Bengaluru team reached a competitive total of 196 and stayed in the contest.
Or so they thought until Ishan Kishan arrived at the crease. The southpaw slammed the joint-fastest fifty for Mumbai Indians in the IPL. His 16-ball blitz ensured a perfect start for the home team. Later, Suryakumar Yadava announced his return to the tournament with another fifty in just 19 balls to put the game to bed.
Mumbai won the game with more than 4 overs to spare.
