Former Indian cricket team star Sreesanth recently revealed the unpaid dues from his stint with the now-defunct IPL team Kochi Tuskers Kerala. Speaking on ‘The Ranveer Show,’ Sreesanth expressed his disappointment, stating that the franchise still owes him and several other players their salaries.
“They have to pay a lot of money. They still haven’t. You should get Muralitharan sir (Muttiah Muralitharan), Mahela (Mahela Jayawardene), and they will only tell you in your show. McCullum was also there, and Jadeja,” Sreesanth revealed.
Highlighting the situation’s urgency, Sreesanth appealed to the franchise to fulfill their financial obligations, reminding them of the 18% interest per year for the delayed payments. He humorously remarked, “I feel by the time my kid gets married, we will definitely receive the money.”
Kochi Tuskers Kerala’s Troubled Legacy
Despite their promising start in the IPL, the Kochi Tuskers Kerala faced challenges that led to their premature exit from the league. Sreesanth reminisced about the team’s initial three-year plan, cut short when the franchise was terminated after just one year. He expressed disappointment that the issue hasn’t received much attention, even among international cricketers.
“Not a single international cricketer is talking about it,” Sreesanth lamented, highlighting the lingering impact of the unpaid dues on former players.
Despite his grievances with the Kochi Tuskers Kerala, Sreesanth supported Hardik Pandya’s inclusion in India’s T20 World Cup squad. Recognizing Pandya’s talent and versatility, Sreesanth emphasized the importance of his presence alongside Virat Kohli in the team, especially during challenging run chases.
“We have seen what he can do on the field minus this year’s IPL. The way he’s been batting and the way he’s been bowling, for the country, he even led the country in one series, and we won,” remarked Sreesanth during a discussion on Star Sports.
Sreesanth praised the synergy between Hardik Pandya and Virat Kohli, highlighting their positive impact on the team’s dynamics. He emphasized the value of Pandya’s contributions, particularly when chasing targets, underscoring the strength of their combination on the field.
“It’s one good thing that Hardik Pandya comes in and bats, especially when he’s chasing, and Virat is on the other side. I think the combination they create is great,” concluded Sreesanth, echoing the sentiments of many cricket enthusiasts.
