But a video posted by Star Sports might have put all these theories to bed. In the video, Gautam Gambhir calls MS Dhoni one of India’s most successful captains.

“I wanted to win. I am clear in my mind. Friends, mutual respect, everything will remain. But when you are in the middle, I am captaining KKR, and he is captaining CSK…. It’s about winning,” said Gambhir before adding, “MS is the most successful captain India will ever have. I don’t think anyone can reach that level- winning 3 ICC trophies.”

Gautam Gambhir on facing CSK in IPL

Gambhir also talked about his duel with CSK and MS Dhoni during his time as a player. He assured everyone that he enjoyed the battle a lot. Further, Gambhir praised MS Dhoni for his tactical brilliance, especially when rotating his spinners. The video ended with Gambhir hailing Dhoni as a great finisher and prompting him to bat up the order.

“Even if they need 20 runs in an over, and MS was in the middle, he could finish that game. At the same time, I know I had the bowling attack to challenge anyone in the Super Kings… Chennai is that kind of a team, against whom you know you are not willing until the last ball was bowled,” Gambhir said.
