India batter Hanuma Vihari is set to represent Madhya Pradesh after receiving his no objection certificate (NOC) from the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA). This development follows a rift between Vihari and the state body, forcing him to seek opportunities elsewhere.
The friction between Vihari and ACA reached a critical state in March when he was served a show cause notice following his public criticism of the governing body’s decision to remove him from captaincy. Vihari’s resolve not to represent Andhra again led to his persistent demand for the NOC, which finally happened after a prolonged wait.
Vihari Criticises ACA’s Sudden Change in Approach Post-Elections
In an expression of relief or rather disappointment, Vihari shared his journey of repeatedly requesting the NOC over two months, which resulted in its issuance on Monday. The NOC is an important requirement for players seeking to switch teams in domestic cricket, granting them the freedom to explore new opportunities.
“I have been asking for NOC for two months, mailed them four times. Didn’t give my NOC. Now things have turned, they have issued my NOC immediately,” he wrote, referring to the massive win for TDP in the state election.
Vihari’s reference to the recent state election victory of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) suggests a potential correlation between political dynamics and administrative decisions within the cricketing sphere.
In a parallel boost for MP, India pacer Kuldeep Sen has also returned to the team after a stint with Tamil Nadu last season. Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association secretary Sanjeeva Rao confirmed Sen’s return, highlighting his prior commitment to the team thwarted last season due to unforeseen circumstances.
With the NOC hurdle cleared, Vihari can now focus on revitalizing his cricketing career with Madhya Pradesh, while Sen’s return bolsters the team’s bowling arsenal.
