Virat Kohli, the celebrated Indian cricketer, shared his thoughts on Thursday on footballer Sunil Chhetri’s retirement announcement.
In a video posted by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Kohli praised Chhetri, saying, “He is a really great player. He actually messaged me as well informing that he’s going to do that. But I would actually say I felt like he is at peace with the decision. I have become very close with him over the years and I wish the best. He is a lovely, lovely guy.”
In another video, Kohli also discussed his post-retirement plans, expressing a desire to leave without regrets. “So, it’s just about not leaving any undone business behind and not having any regrets later, which I’m very sure of I won’t. Once I’m done, I’ll be gone; you won’t see me for a while,” said the 35-year-old cricketer.
Currently in exceptional form, Kohli leads the scoring charts this season with an impressive 661 runs from 13 games for RCB. His illustrious career includes 113 Tests, 292 ODIs, and 117 T20Is, with over 26,000 international runs across formats. Kohli also holds the record for most runs in T20 World Cup history, with 1141 runs to his name.
With the T20 World Cup on the horizon, the anticipation is high as Kohli’s performance takes center stage. This will mark his sixth appearance in the tournament, where India is pitted against formidable opponents like Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, and co-hosts USA. The action kicks off on June 5 with a match against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, followed by a high-stakes clash against Pakistan on June 9.
