Mayank Yadav, India’s latest pace sensation, has profoundly impacted IPL 2024 with his stellar performance against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Tuesday, April 2.

The 21-year-old from Delhi greatly showcased his talent, contributing significantly to Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) 28-run victory over RCB. In a display of skill and determination, Mayank Yadav achieved a rare feat in IPL history by clinching the Man of the Match award in his first two matches in the star-studded T20 league.

In his IPL debut against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow, Mayank Yadav made an immediate impact by dismissing Jonny Bairstow, Prabhsimran Singh, and Jitesh Sharma, finishing with impressive figures of 3/27 in four overs. Despite PBKS’ strong start, Mayank’s bowling prowess turned the tide in LSG’s favour, leaving the opposition reeling at 139/3 during the 200-run chase.

Against RCB, Mayank Yadav further solidified his credentials by claiming the crucial wickets of Glenn Maxwell, Cameroon Green, and Rajat Patidar, conceding just 14 runs in four overs. His exceptional performance earned him widespread acclaim and established him as the first player in IPL history to win consecutive Man of the Match awards in his first two matches.

Notably, Mayank Yadav showcased his raw pace by bowling the fastest delivery of IPL 2024, clocking 156.7 KMPH against RCB, surpassing his own record of 155.8 KMPH set against PBKS. His impressive speed ranks as the fourth fastest delivery in IPL history, further highlighting his potential as a future star in Indian cricket.

Expressing his delight at his achievements, Mayank Yadav emphasized his ambition to represent the Indian cricket team and contribute internationally. With fans already clamouring for his inclusion in India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024, Mayank remains focused on his goal of donning the national colours.

“I feel really good, two Player of the Match awards in two matches. I am happier that we won both matches. My goal is to play for the country. I feel this is just the start. I enjoyed Cameron Green’s wicket the most,” Mayank remarked, reflecting on his outstanding performances in the IPL.
