Australians have started their Super 8 campaign in style with a dominating win against Bangladesh. This win was led by Pat Cummins and his hat hattrick.
He became the first Australian since Brett Lee to claim a hat trick in the T20 World Cup. This hat trick came between the 18th and 20th over. The first wicket of three came in the fifth ball of the 18th over when he induced an edge from Mahmudullah’s bat that ended on his stumps.
Pat Cummins clinch hattrick
The next ball of the over was bowled outside the off stump, which Mahedi Hasan tried to hit, but only as far as Adam Zampa at deep third.
In the 20th over, he bowled a slow delivery to remove Towhid Hridoy, who saw him depart for a good score of 40 off 28 and helped Cummins complete his hattrick.
The World Cup-winning captain, however, later admitted to having forgotten about being on the hat trick. “I didn’t know I was on a hattrick,” he said. “I did the previous over, saw it come up on the screen, and by the time the next over came around had totally forgot about it. Think Stoinis ran in from the deep [and] was cheering and everyone’s like, oh yeah. So, nice one.”

Some great bowling by Cummins and Zampa, among others, helped Australia curtail the Bangladesh inning to a score of 140/8 in 20 overs.
Australia won by DLS method
The second inning saw Australia score in a frenzy. With rain looming around the corner, they had to stay ahead of the DLS score. Hence, Warner and Head started in the same manner as well.
With a 65-run stand for the first wicket, they solidified Australia’s position in the game. The 12th over saw rain interruption, but Australia was ahead of the par score at 100 for 2. And even when the game couldn’t be resumed, they were declared winners.
