As Rahul Dravid prepares for his final day as Team India’s head coach, he shares his reflections and fond memories ahead of the T20 World Cup final against South Africa at Kensington Oval. In a promo video shared by the BCCI, Dravid expressed that the connections he built during his tenure are among his fondest memories. “Fondest memories will be the connections I have built,” Dravid said, emphasizing the personal bonds he formed with the players and staff. The 51-year-old coach highlighted the invaluable learning experience that coaching the Indian team provided for him and his family.

Dravid praised the team’s professionalism in handling both victories and defeats. “I’ve really learned a lot from this experience, and the professionalism in this team has been commendable,” he noted.

During his tenure, Dravid led the team to the finals of both the ICC World Test Championship and the home 50-over World Cup last year, though they fell short against Australia in both instances. Despite these challenges, Dravid’s leadership has been marked by a strong commitment to building a cohesive and resilient team.

Rohit Sharma’s Admiration

India captain Rohit Sharma spoke highly of Dravid, labeling him as “a big role model.” Rohit, who has played both under and with Dravid, shared his admiration and efforts to convince Dravid to stay on as coach. “I’ve enjoyed every bit of it, working with him,” Rohit said. “I tried convincing him to stay, but obviously there are a lot of things that he needs to look after as well.”
