The Nepal cricket team is handed a significant boost in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Their star bowler, Sandeep Lamichhane, is all set to join the team for the ongoing tournament.
Sandeep was once one of cricket’s red-hot commodities. Despite hailing from Nepal, a country with no impactful cricketing history, he became renowned for his bowling skills.
However, in 2022, the player faced some serious allegations. Lamichhane was accused of having raped a young woman in a Kathmandu hotel. Following this, the player was reprimanded with eight years of sentence.
Sandeep Lamichhane reached West Indies
Another hearing last month brought a change to that decision. The player was granted bail and allowed to rejoin the cricketing action.
As a result, the player will join the Nepal Cricket team in the ongoing T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies.
Lamichhane was excited about his inclusion in the squad. Showcasing the same, he posted on social media platform X, “I am now joining the national team for the last two matches in West Indies and looking forward to fulfilling my dreams and dreams of all cricket lovers.”
His presence might play a huge role for the team that has been struggling so far in the tournament. They played their opening encounter against the Netherlands and lost by 6 wickets. Now, their next game is against Sri Lanka in Florida before they move to the West Indies for their remaining three games against the West Indies, South Africa, and Bangladesh.
