After being snubbed from the ongoing T20 World Cup, Shubman Gill seeks redemption. And it might come in the series against Zimbabwe, where he might even get to feature as the team captain.

Gill was named as a reserved opener for the ongoing World Cup. However, he was released from the team following the group stage’s conclusion. Only Rinku Singh was retained in case India’s team suffered an injury.

This allowed the Indian stalwart to return to NCA and prepare for what might be his first stint as captain of the Indian Cricket Team. According to a report in the Indian Express, the decision to make Gill captain was taken after Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav declined to feature in the series.
