Wanindu Hasaranga leads Sri Lanka ‘s cricket team for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. He’s been the captain since December last year, with Charith Asalanka as his deputy. Angelo Mathews, a veteran player, is back after three years, bringing his experience to the team. He’s been in six T20 World Cups, winning in 2014.

The team has a mix of old hands and new talent. Besides Mathews, there are younger players like Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka. Leadership isn’t an issue with Dasun Shanaka, Kusal Mendis, and Dhananjaya de Silva backing up Hasaranga.

Sri Lanka’s strength lies in its versatile players. Hasaranga is their main spinner, supported by others like Dunith Wellalage and Dhananjaya de Silva. Dushmantha Chameera and Dilshan Madushanka lead the pace attack, with Matheesha Pathirana and Nuwan Thushara adding their unique styles.
