The test rivalry between India and Australia is at an all-time high at the moment. Two of the best teams in the longest format of the game are credited with producing some of the finest action in the sport in recent years.

As a result, the Border-Gavaskar Trophy played between the two nations, has become a carnival for both sets of fans. And the cricket governing body of Australia might have just come up with the best way to elevate this experience.

According to a report by Indian Express, Cricket Australia has announced dedicated seats, called “fan zones,” for the Indian fans during the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.

The statement released by the board read, “Aligned with Cricket Australia’s Multicultural Action Plan, the fan zones will foster an inclusive environment for Indian Cricket fans and create an electrifying atmosphere. Once they are on sale; fans are encouraged to secure their seats in the Indian fan zones and help enhance the vibrant atmosphere by donning blue attire and bring traditional instruments such as the dhol for family-friendly experience.”

This will certainly boost the participation of fans, especially the Indian segment present in Australia. It might also encourage people from India to travel downunder and cheer for their team in the hostile territory.

The India-Australia cricket rivalry is a thrilling saga that has captivated fans for years. The Indian Cricket team currently holds the upper hand, having won the series for the first time in Australia in 2018, and since then, they have maintained their dominance.

Since then, they have beaten the mighty Aussies twice at home and once in Australia in 2020-21. Given the absentees on the bench, it was a memorable victory for the Indian contingent. The young brigade of cricketers was able to subdue the firepower of the home team in that series.

Recently, Australia visited India and suffered a defeat in 2023. Hence, they will be itching to wipe the slate clean with a win on home turf.

The Rohit Sharma-led side will play five test matches starting November 22, 2024. The series ends on January 7, 2025, in Sydney. It will also feature a day-night test in Adelaide.
